Frequently Asked Questions

How does Screenshot Ninja work?

Screenshot Ninja scans your photo library for screenshots and uses on-device AI to extract text (OCR), classify images, and group visually similar screenshots together. Everything runs locally on your iPhone — nothing is uploaded to any server.

Why does the app need access to my photos?

Screenshot Ninja needs photo library access to find and display your screenshots. We only read screenshot images for processing. We never modify, upload, or share your photos.

How long does indexing take?

The initial scan depends on how many screenshots you have. For most users (500-2000 screenshots), it takes 2-5 minutes. This only happens once — new screenshots are indexed automatically as you take them.

Is my data private?

Yes, 100%. All processing happens on your device using Apple’s built-in Vision and CoreML frameworks. No data is sent to any server. No analytics, no tracking, no accounts. See our Privacy Policy for details.

What is the Triage feature?

Triage lets you quickly review screenshots one at a time with a swipe interface. Swipe right to keep, left to delete. The app learns your preferences over time and shows screenshots you’re most likely to want to delete first.

How do scheduled cleanups work?

You can set any screenshot to expire after 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month. When the expiry time passes, the screenshot is flagged for cleanup. You’ll see a banner in your inbox letting you clear expired screenshots with one tap.

How are groups created?

Groups are created automatically by analyzing the visual similarity of your screenshots. Screenshots that look alike (same app, similar layout and colors) are grouped together. No manual sorting needed.

Can I search for text inside screenshots?

Yes! Screenshot Ninja uses OCR (optical character recognition) to read all text in your screenshots. You can search for confirmation numbers, addresses, recipes, or any text that appeared in a screenshot.

Will deleted screenshots go to Recently Deleted?

Yes. When you delete screenshots through Screenshot Ninja, they go to your Photos app’s “Recently Deleted” album, where they stay for 30 days before being permanently removed. You can recover them from there if needed.

How do I delete all my app data?

Simply delete the Screenshot Ninja app from your device. All app data (indexes, preferences, settings) is stored locally and will be removed with the app. Your screenshots in the Photos library are not affected.

System Requirements

Screenshot Ninja requires iOS 17.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone and iPad.
