Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using Photo Habit Tracker, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Description of the App

Photo Habit Tracker is a personal productivity app that helps you build habits through daily photo check-ins. Core tracking works offline. Optional features — the Accountability Buddy, Pods (group accountability), direct messages, Explore, profile photos, daily insight cards, and anonymous usage analytics — connect to our backend hosted on Amazon Web Services. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Photo Habit Tracker for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer any part of the app.

Your Content

You retain full ownership of your habits, notes, proof photos, messages, and any content you create in the app. Check-in notes and completion history stay on your device. If you use the Buddy or Pods features, check-in proof photos, profile photos, pod avatars, and message text are uploaded to our servers to enable those features. You retain ownership of all uploaded content. Buddy-related data is stored on our backend only to the extent needed to provide those features, and never sold, shared, or used for advertising.

User-Generated Content Policy

Photos uploaded through Buddy check-ins, profile avatars, pod avatars, display names, taglines, and direct messages are visible to other users. All of it must not contain illegal, abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or sexually explicit material, and must not be used to spam or solicit other users.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate this policy.

If you encounter objectionable content or behaviour from another user, report it from inside the app. Long-press a person in Explore, in your buddy feed, or open the menu inside a conversation, and choose Report. Reports reach the developer immediately and are reviewed by a person. Reporting someone also blocks them straight away.

Blocking

You can block any other user from the same menus, and see or undo your blocks in Settings → Blocked people. Blocking is mutual in effect: once either person has blocked the other, neither can message, react to, remind, or see the other in suggestions or Explore.

Direct Messages

Messages are between you and one other person you are already connected to as a buddy or pod member — you cannot message a stranger. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted and are stored on our servers so they can be delivered and shown in your history. We access message content only when investigating a report of abuse.

You agree not to use messages to harass, threaten, spam, solicit, or send sexual content to another user. You can mute a conversation at any time, and blocking someone stops messages in both directions immediately.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Photo Habit Tracker only for lawful personal purposes. You must not attempt to circumvent any technical limitations or security measures in the app, misuse the Accountability Buddy, Pods, Explore, or messaging features to harass other users, or submit content that is illegal, abusive, or infringes anyone’s rights.

Community Standards

Explore is designed to let you find an accountability partner you have not met, so connecting with someone new is expected and welcome. What is not acceptable is contacting people who have declined, sending repeated unwanted reminders or messages, impersonating anyone, or using offensive or abusive names, taglines, or avatars for yourself or your pods.

You control who reaches you: you can turn off discoverability in Settings so you do not appear in Explore at all, decline any buddy request, remove a buddy, leave a pod, mute a conversation, or block a person outright. Pod creators are responsible for the pod name and avatar they set, and can remove members or delete the pod, which removes all members.

We may remove or suspend access for any account that violates these standards.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Photo Habit Tracker is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app or its backend services will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. Habit tracking results depend entirely on your own effort and consistency.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the app, including any loss of data, streak, photo, or message.

Data Loss & Retention

On-device data (photos, notes, habits, completion history) is stored in your device’s sandboxed container and can be lost due to device failure, accidental deletion, iOS updates, or app uninstallation. We strongly recommend using iCloud device backups. Backend-stored buddy data should be treated as convenience, not as a backup of your primary records.

Photos and messages uploaded to our servers are kept until you delete them or delete your account. They are not automatically expired on a schedule. You can delete all server-side data from Settings → Delete Cloud Data.

Third-Party Services

The app connects to backend services we operate on Amazon Web Services (AWS), sends push notifications through Apple Push Notification service (APNs), and stores photos in Amazon S3. Check-in photo thumbnails are sent to Anthropic to generate personalization tags; Anthropic does not retain them or train on them. No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are embedded in the app. The Privacy Policy lists every external service in full.

Modifications

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Updated terms will be included in the next app release and noted in the release notes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is based, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
